How To Plan A Wedding Day Timeline
Hey Beautiful Brides and Groovy Grooms! I have been missing in the blog world while busy during wedding season, but I wanted to get back to giving YOU some advice! Today we're going to be talking about planning your wedding day timeline. It is such an important step to making sure that your wedding day runs smoothly! It's rare that people notice if you stick to your timeline, but it is often obvious to everyone, including guests, when things are not running smoothly! So, here are my pointers for helping to ensure a flawless day.
The first thing you need to decide is when the ceremony starts. This is going to be the base point for the day and you can work out from there when everything else needs to start. The next decision to make is, are you having a first look? A lot of couples choose to do a first look away from the crowds before the wedding starts. It's a great chance to see each other and have an intimate moment before the hustle and bustle begins. It also allows you to do photos before the ceremony instead of after. When planning photos, make sure you talk with your photographer about how much time you will need. I typically use 5-7 minutes per group photo, so if you want 10 groups I would say plan about an hour, if you want 20 different groups, plan 2 hours. Make sure, when scheduling your day to add travel time. I like to give myself double what the time usually is. I would rather have time to relax at a location than frantically try to get through photos, hair, or makeup.
Photographers usually like to arrive about an hour before the bride is finished getting ready. This will allow the photographer to get some awesome shots of the final touches of getting ready and eliminates the awkwardness of having a photographer in your face for hours before you get started. :)
A few little reminders
1. Don't forget to EAT! Make sure you get a good breakfast and plan a time for lunch!
2. Plan extra time for everything
3. Time your hair and make up test run (if you have one).
4. Use the vendors you have hired. Ask questions about your timeline before you plan it. Not sure how much time the photographer will need? ASK! Not sure the order of events during the reception or the timing of those? Ask your DJ. Your vendors are there to make your day easier and less stressful and hopefully flawless. Use them to help plan it!
